چکیده
A portable signal generator that simulates the amplitude and frequency of neuronal signals for testing extracellular recording amplifiers is described. The signal generator is easy to construct and it is extremely useful in tracing signal processing stages in neurophysiological equipment.

Integrated circuit amplifiers for multi-electrode intracortical recording.
Significant progress has been made in systems that interpret the electrical signals of the brain in order to control an actuator. One version of these systems senses neuronal extracellular action potentials with an array of up to 100 miniature probes inserted into the cortex. The impedance of each probe is high, so environmental electrical noise is readily coupled to the neuronal signal. To min...
متن کاملA Proposal for a New Method of Modeling of the Quantum Dot Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers
With the advancement of nanoscale semiconductor technology, semiconductor optical amplifiers are used to amplify and process all-optical signals. Inthis paper, with the aim of calculating the gain of quantum dot semiconductor opticalamplifier (QD-SOA), two groups of rate equations and the optical signal propagatingequation are used in the active layer of the device. For t...
متن کاملMultichannel Front - End circuit with Action Potentials / Local Field Potentials separation for wireless neural recording
HE bottleneck of the Systems on Chip (SoC) for simultaneous multichannel wireless neural recording is the RF transmitter. It is due to the disproportion between its throughput limited by the requirements of low power consumption and the amount of data acquired from the multielectrode probes. In order to reduce the amount of data without loss of neurobiological information, a sub-band coding tec...
متن کاملOn the design of multi-site microelectrodes for neuronal recordings
The current understanding of how the nervous system functions is based on numerous observations of the behavior of single neuronal units or a small ensemble of units correlated to some external stimulation or behavioral event. However, the processing power of the nervous system lies in its network and interconnections. Thus the key to understanding the nervous system is to make simultaneous obs...
متن کاملA 16 × 16 Multi-electrode Array with Integrated CMOS Amplifiers for Neural Signal Recording
This paper reports on an active 16 x 16, low-noise, low-power, multi-electrode array (MEA) neural sensor chip designed in IBM BiCMOS 8HP 0.13μm process with a total gain of 60 dB per input, a 20 kHz sample rate, an input-referred noise of 5.3 Vrms over 10 Hz to 10 kHz and a total power dissipation of 15.8 mW, or 61.7 W per channel. A C4 microelectrode is attached to the input of each amplifier ...
